Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas...
perhaps... means a little bit more."-

Friends
for Food: Local citizens continue to volunteer and extend
their generosity to our children and families during the holiday
season. They unceasingly aid families throughout the holidays with
incredible generosity that brings warmth and gratitude to the hearts
of many; 1400 households received a turkey and
holiday food for Thanksgiving.
Spirit
of Giving: During the holiday season, Community
Services of Venango County, Inc., in conjunction with the Cranberry
Mall, operates the annual Spirit of Giving campaign. Dedicated volunteers
monitor the Giving Tree, offer shopping bags for Mall customers,
and wrap their purchased Christmas gifts. All of the funds donated
to the Sprit of Giving campaign benefit more than 800
local children in need through Community Services.
Adopt-A-Family:
Each year, a number of local businesses,
churches, families and civic organizations "adopt" a family
and buy Christmas gifts for all of the members of that immediate
family. These local groups are referred to as "sponsors."
The Adopt-A Family Program is anonymous. The sponsors will know
only the first names and ages of family members and the family will
not be told who their sponsor is. The sponsor will receive a wish
list from their adopted family and the presents are to be delivered
to either the Rocky Grove or Oil City Community Services agency.
The family will then be notified and arrangements made for them
to pick up their Christmas gifts.
