“Stamp Out Hunger”
was the theme for the 2009 Postal Drive.
Venango County residents donated food in the National
Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) drive to restock the local
food pantries in an effort to combat hunger in our community.
People leave food by their mailboxes and letter carriers, rural
carriers and other postal employees and many volunteers collect,
process and deliver the donations to our local food pantries.
The Postal Drive is held the second Saturday of May each year.
The next drive is scheduled for May 8, 2010. Both
Oil City and Franklin have sites for food deliveries. Franklin’s
site is at the Franklin Fire Department and Oil City’s site
is at the Christ Episcopal Church.
“This
is an amazing testimony to the generosity of the people in our
community even as they themselves struggle to make ends meet in
these hard times.”
